Eli's baby dedication is coming up on Father's day during the evening service. One thing that they like each family to do is write a "charge" or list of hopes/dreams/and prayers that they have for their child and then record the parents reading it the week before the program. Then during the program while family and friends join us on the stage, they will play the recording.
Steve and I are recording ours tomorrow and would like to share in advance what we will be saying.
1) Our hope for you, Eli, is that you will "love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." And that you shall "love your neighbor as yourself." Also, remember to "take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day." We pray that you would be like David and strive to be a man after God's own heart.
2) Although we aren't perfect, our commitment to you is that we will do our best to show Christ to you through our daily living, reading God's word, praying together, and singing songs of praise - that you in turn may grow to know Christ Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior. We pray each night that you would grow to be a man of honor, grace, forgiveness, strength, and strong character. We hope that you will never doubt your safety with us or our unconditional love for you.
